Kentucky came back to beat West Virginia late last night to win the Las Vegas Invitational Tournament (the same tournament Bradley will compete in next year).

But the other story at Kentucky was freshman DeAndre Liggins' refusal to re-enter a game Friday night against Kansas State. It forced Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie to play his only other point guard Michael Porter 36 minutes in a close 74-72 win Friday, much more minutes than Gillispie wanted to in a tournament they played 3 games in 3 days.
After the game, Gillispie seemed upset by his freshman's refusal to re-enter the game--
But if you thought Gillispie would discipline Liggins, he didn't. In last night's game, Liggins was rewarded for his insurrection with 27 minutes of playing time, compared with just 13 minutes for Porter. That is as much as Liggins has played in any game this season!
Liggins is averaging 3.8 points per game, 3.3 assists per game, and 3.5 turnovers per game.
Box score from Saturday- Liggins with 27 minutes.--
Liggins' stats--
In today's reports, it seems Gillispie showed how he handles discipline- he allowed Liggins' teammates to vote on the punishment he should get, and they voted for no punishment.
Apparently, in a newspaper poll, the majority of fans voted that he should be kicked off the team, but instead, he played as many minutes as he has ever played.
