Will has the potential to be a very good player; we need to remember that he did not play much last season so we are going to have to live with his mistakes as he will make them because of his experience; the thing that I would like to point out is that Will and Sam Singh have both done a great job playing the center position together, it seems like Sam is not getting the credit he deserves as both he and Will alternating at the position has given us a lot more production then what we had been getting in the past, our post defense is 100% better now. Will is a player that has a good chance to be very good as long as he keeps improving but lets not say he is a star quite yet.

I know this will probably be unpopular, but I think Les also needs to roll out DC once in a while to see if he's getting the CBI-caliber DC or the head in the sand version. It's sad that a guy with his capabilities, size & physique just doesn't seem to "buy-in" and bust his @.

There's a $$$$ pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for him if he just would kick it in gear. If you could only put Matt Salley's or JJ's determination in him - look out!!

I wouldnt mind seeing DC in once in a while along with AT, however its going to be tough to do so when we continue to have a 4 guard offense and WE and SS are ahead of both of them in the depth chart.

Agree...But we must find ways to get AT into games this year... It will pay off in the long run.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I guess I dont reallt mean DC and AT in at the same time but I do think they should both get some minutes especaily AT. Who knows if AT gets the same chance as Will did he might be able to play significant minutes. It is tough to to contribute when you only play 3 minutes a game as we have found out with Will. I really didnt see anything from Will in the preseason or in the first 3 games that would have told me he was ready to play probably because he could never get in the flow of the game. He starts to following game and plays significant minutes and what do you know, he was the key to victory

D.Collins has shown us that he can score but he gives up way too many points to his man on defense and is most generally out of position which in turn causes our other players to committ fouls trying to stop his man. Will took full advantage us his playing time and deserves to start, A.Thompson needs to do the same when given the oppurtunity to play, remember that AT is only a freshman and Will a sophomore so they have a lot of future left ahead , D.Collins would have had a better chance of developing if he had been here as a freshman because it appears like he had very little coaching in Jr. college.

DC is a 22 year old senior and should be playing with a little more urgency being his last year. I just do not see the desire in him to do anymore then what he has done so far so I doubt that more coaching would have changed his attitude which is needed to be sucessful at this level IMO. He seems like a nice guy though....

Your right about him being a nice guy, but there are a lot of nice guys that are not playing and that should not have any factor on whether or not he gets in the game. He was given the opportunity and I just see someone that does not react very well to what is happening on the court.

Collins is 23...actually. But the rest of your points still apply.
He hasn't shown the consistent desire or effort needed to earn an expanded role on this team, so it's time to develop the younger post players that are going have to help us next year and beyond.

The nice guy statement was tongue in cheek comment. I believe you need desire to excel at this level and beyond. That is why you see guys from inner cities and poor rural background exceed because they feel they have something to prove. In an extreme case, MJ excelled not only because of his athletic ability but because of his will to succeed. NO ONE out worked Mike before the season. I read that Larry Bird did not like the way he shot or handled the ball left handed during HS so he tied his right hand up durng the summer and just used his left hand. At this level it takes more then just athletic ability to be good because everyone is pretty athletic. There are few who do not have pure athletic ability but pure heart that excel like Drake's Adam Emmenecker.

We finally have Will to replace a collins....and now he's out.

Hopefully it's not too bad...hopefully AT can get in since we are up by so much to see what we have out of him.

I hope this doesn't dishearten the team

DC can't handle a pass and misses a dunk.

I really hope WE knee is ok. I can feel the disappointment toward this situation all the way in STL.

                              illegal screen on collins....

we were hanging around 23 or 20 points ahead now with collins in the lead drops to 13....this is REALLY not good
