  • Will Egolf!

    Go Will...nice couple of games.........

by the time Will is done at BU, he will be one of the best post players we've had in decades...
    Will Egolf >> Randall Falker!!
(btw Falker was just signed to Cholet, a pro team in France, he apparently had some injury but is playing now - avg 3 ppg. Here are a couple tidbits...
One of his teammates is Vincent Grier, one of Coach Mo's players at Minnesota.
One other is a guy named....get this....Steeve Ho You Fat...seriously!!

2-0 with Egolf starting; plus he also does a lot of things that don"t show up in the stats as he deflected a lot of balls in the 2 games, keep up the good work Will.

      Ummm...doubtful.
Will had a nice couple of games, and it gives us some hope to have some semblance of adequacy in the post over the next couple of years...
But to say he is going to be better than Randal Falker at this point in time is going way, way too far.

Totally agree.... way too early to tell with Will. People were talking about DC being great after he had a few good games early last year and look wher hes at now. At the end of the bench.

I wish Jim would AT the same opportunity as he gave Will and let him play some significant minutes to see what he can do.

Listen...after all the experts telling us that John Riek was the #1 prospect in the NATION in the Class of 2008 (then he barely got offers, was embarrassed in an NBA workout, and is a likely redshirt candidate), and that Kyle Rowley was the top Illinois player (and he barely sees the court at NU while Mike Dunigan is the best player on Oregon),
and when lots of people ripped into and wrote off guys like Patrick O'Bryant, JJ Tauai, and Jeremy Crouch....
and when lots of people posted the "Fallacies" that are being discussed including you....
then I will draw my own conclusions as I have been right-on more than a whole lot of people who think their assessments are better.
Do you care to recall just who it was that predicted that both Jordan Prosser and John Wilkins would verbal to BU and that Eddren McCain might just start at PG for BU this year?

I also recall someone on the board saying Matt Salley was going to be Randall Faulker last year...... IF we had a Randall Faulker last year there is no way we just play in the CBI

I never saw that comment, and Matt Salley was no Randall Falker.
I just like WE's chances. Who knows the future?? I wouldn't write the kid off so soon...

dont think anyone is close to writing the kid off I just think we should wait a few more games to determine how good the kid is really going to be

This is crazy, Will Egolf has played in 2 games this season and a handful last season, there is no way you or anyone can make a sensible comparison between Egolf and Randal Falkner. It just does not make any sense.

He is a very promising player, but right now it is promise not proven... Faulker proved it.

He has energized Bradley bigtime with his hustle and play but he still makes silly fouls and has yet to really have to carry any load either offensively, rebouding or even defensively.

BTW when Falkner was a Soph his stats were as follows

                  28 minutes a game
                  51% from the field
                  7.8 boards a game
                  9.1 points per game

Even as a Freshman Falkner got into 35 games and played an average of nearly 16 per game.

Egolf has a long ways to go to ever get to the game that Falkner provided SIU for 4 years.

Salley and Faulker discussion aside... IF we had Candy and Nuts - Christmas would be every day.

I think Ruff's injury (along with AW's late season injury) and some off court issues put Bradley in the CBI... not Salley's production on the floor (which actually IMO turned up quite a notch and added to Bradley's success late in the season).

Oh - but sorry.... I think this is more of a nit-pick on Tornado.

Excuse me as I will now go to the kiddie pool.

Man I thought we were taling Jason Faulknor...seriously. I was thinking...come on...Wills starting to play but he's not even at Jason's level yet. Now I read closer and we are talking Randall Falkner.....YIKES.

Not even fair to WE to even broach that comparison.

Will has a ways to go...a ways. I'm excited he is getting PT and making something of it but its a long way from "arriving".

He's "out" but not all the way yet.

Go WE we are ALL pulling for you.

Agreed...Salley gave us all he had. He was a sub at the 4 spot put into starting the 5 due to POB's early entry. Never understand Salley bashing. I liked his effort and fire. He gave us what he had.

                          Heemy, where have you been?
Numerous posts both last year and early this year were so bold as to proclaim Will Egolf a wasted scholarship, and criticise his play. Many of those posts no longer exist as they were pretty unfair swipes.
I find it odd how a positive comment about a player draws more ire on the board than all those negative comments!

As I demonstrated in the "Fallacies" thread, these kinds of negative posts are silly.

Am I talking about last year? No, I have not seen a post this year about a wasted scholarship from Egolf and not a single person saying a negative thing about after this past week. I just hate when people start proclaiming players as an all conference player after they have 1 or 2 good games. Just let the kid play and lets not put any extra pressure on the kid!

I happen to agree with this approach, but I also believe Will is exactly the type of player we need down low......very active and athletic. I'm very much looking forward to seeing his improvement as the season progresses!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
