  • Not pretty, but a win. Didn't get the game on TV, but sounds like Wilson played well and Egolf played well. Any stats from the game?

    • Yeah, I know we are a young team, but I still thought we had enough experience from the CBI earlier this year. I didn't realize we might actually digress a bit this year. Well, we'll see how things go, but we definately have to hold court at home, and maybe the CBI is what we end up with again. I hope I'm wrong and at least the NIT is within our grasp, but these two games were pretty alarming. But a win tomorrow against Richmond would be good, as they seem to be a decent team.

      • It wasn't pretty, but I don't think anybody cares. Some new guys stepped up along with TW.

          • Will Egolf and Darian Norris have earned time with their production. Eddren McCain and David Collins should go to the end of the bench. Right now those two give you nothing no either end. McCain I am not worried about, he just isn't ready yet. I don't think anyone expected him to be. But let's not dwell on the negative. Egolf and Norris's contributions said a lot tonight. They showed the skill and the poise when our team needed it most. Both should be logging 20+ minutes from here on out. Learning these things now should pay major dividends down the road.

              • Well, a wins a win I guess. It was good for Egolf's confidence as his future was looking bleak but he made several big plays tonight. I think SM and Theron need to shoot more and lower turnovers. This team is lacking that go to player. Going to have some problems tomorrow with Richmond but the non conference season is shot anyways so it doesn't really matter until Valley season and hopefully Warren is back then.

Yes, if there was one game I thought they might lose, Richmond would be it. So a win against them and we are still in decent shape. The good thing about this tourney is that our team is learning how to win away from home. That will only help as the Valley season approaches, but again, based on this tourney, I'm more than afraid how we will look playing at SIU, Creighton and Michigan St, and now you can add Missouri St as well. They look a lot stronger than predicted!

I don't have final stats, but I can tell you T-Ron had a double, double; Will hit a big shot w/ the clock winding down at about 2 min left in the game; Darian Norris had 3 big 3's and a huge rebound over two bigger guys near the end of the game; and most notably....

DAVID COLLINS DIDN'T PLAY THE ENTIRE 2ND HALF!

                      • Welcome to Bradley basketball Will. I'm not going to call this a great win because if we had taken better care of the basketball we would have beat this team by double digiits but it's an important win especially after last night. Richmond will be a tough game but if we can play the same kind of defense I like our chances.

I don't know about you, but Will certainly proved that he can make the big shots when necessary...

I'm glad to see that our defense took over. Les has often been criticized as being a one dimensional coach by using the small guard, weave offense and winning "shootout" type games with no emphasis on rebounding and defense. But tonight he showed that he will not tolerate a team that does not play with intensity and intelligence. By stressing defense, he knows that will create more chances on the offensive side and offset the early season shooting problems that some on this team apparently are having. Also great to see that he is benching some players that are not pulling their weight. Let's hope this wakes the rest of the team up a bit.

Not to be negative, but our opponent is one of the worst teams in America. Nonetheless, the effort was better, as were the results. Let's use it as a confidence builder moving forward.
