thanks - when I first compiled this it hadn't been made known...

over the past several years- the non-conference schedule has been made known anywhere from early June to late August-
but each year - us fans have found, or figured out a significant hunk of the non-conference schedule just by digging & keeping our ears & eyes open...

Practically every bit of news on the schedule so far has been cited here well before anywhere else...
for example - it definitely looks like we are going to be in the Bahamas in mid-November and yet there's still NO mention of it officially and we're a full month after the talk first began here.
I suppose there's reasons - contracts aren't all signed and maybe there's still a possibility it'll get cancelled - so I understand why all the schools that are in this tourney have not yet officially announced it.

I really don't care when they release the schedule. It is still a joke we have to go to Chicago State for an away game. Their program is a joke and we have to go there for a road game. Absolutely unbelievable. Maybe if we get enough teams like them on the schedule we can win 20 games. If this was a return game we should have had enough pride to buy our way out of it and got another home game or a road game. Even a game at Western would be better than this.

we need visibility in Chicago and any other home buy game would cost $80,000-$100,000....so if this is part of a 2-for-1 then we get $200K worth of return games down the road..

We'll be making two trips to Chicagoland every year starting this season, with Loyola and Valpo. We are all entitled to our opinions, I just don't think there will be a big ticket or television demand for a game at Chicago State. It'll be buried in the back pages of the sports section of the Chicago papers, maybe.

I hear ya..but it's pretty clear nobody else wants to play us...

check this article about Texas-Arlington....
they can't find anyone that wants to play them either...
http://www.spokesman.com/stories/201...ketball-teams/

I think when we were bad, teams weren't as afraid to play us - but I think they know we are gonna be better this year and they are avoiding us..
I am certain Brian Wardle & Chris Reynolds are doing everything they can to get a solid schedule-

There are over 300 schools in D-1. Chicago State is consistently near the bottom of the RPIs. To say we can't find anyone with an RPI between 100 and 250 to play is absurd. If it's so hard for mid majors to find opponents, there must be a lot of other mid majors looking for games also. Playing a patsy like Chicago State at their place does nothing at all to improve your program. These are the type of non conference games that we criticize other MVC schools of playing.

Default Reason No One Wants To Play Us?

The fact that no one wants to play us...is this because we no longer provide a good probability of a victory for our opponent and that a loss to us would be damaging to our opponents RPI?

If so, I'm ok with that because it tells me other coaches and media know we are becoming competitive again. Thats good. Did Coach Ford have trouble finding teams to play us? If so, I'll bet less trouble.

Ole Miss released their 2017-18 noncon schedule and BU plays there on December 22, probably the last game in a 2-for-1 series:

http://www.olemisssports.com/sports/...062717aaa.html

IlSU also plays Ole Miss on December 16.

Also, Bradley is still scheduled to play in the Bahamas as of June 16, which is when the following website was last updated:

That information on the bloggingthebracket.com website is based entirely on this single tweet by a guy who runs a blog (http://varsityinsider.lohudblogs.com/) about high school sports in the lower Hudson Valley in New York-
https://twitter.com/lohudinsider/sta...48402875944961

He is somehow connected to, and tweets about Iona University, which was originally listed as one of the schools to be playing in the Bahamas Showcase, but is now appears to have dropped out and has been removed from the list.

So as we approach July, and every other early-season Division I tournament has been planned, organized, and promoted for many months by now, it would be nice to have some further confirmation and information about this tournament. But there is none, and I don't expect any soon.

The company which is behind the Bahamas Showcase, bd Global, has not had the best record sponsoring college basketball tournaments. Last year, they sponsored the Lone Star Showcase, which was downgraded from 8 teams to 4, and almost got cancelled altogether. It no longer exists this season.
And, they also organized the Vegas 16 post-season tournament two years ago and claimed it would be a yearly tournament. It nearly collapsed the first year in 2015 before they pared it down to 8 teams and salvaged it. It reportedly lost money, and was cancelled the next year.
It is not a good sign that they have not released a word about this tournament, there is not a single mention of it on their website, and the only person who has mentioned it is some obscure high school sports blogger in New York who tweeted about it.

Notre Dame just announced they will play a game AT Delaware this year-
it's just what schools do sometimes...perhaps to get a game out east before the conference games start or because of some connections with the staffs..

If this non conference home schedule is accurate, this schedule is embarrassing. I can't believe this is the best we can do. For the price fans have to pay for tickets, we deserve better.

a little news (indirectly) on the schedule...

Weber State has released their entire completed schedule...
and it does seem to confirm that the Bahamas Showcase is on....

"OGDEN - Sixteen home games, a preseason tournament in the Bahamas,
the new Beehive Classic and another 18-game Big Sky Conference season
highlight the 2017-18 Weber State men's basketball schedule.

...We're also fortunate to be in another really good preseason tournament in
the Bahamas ..

WSU will then host West Coast Baptist on Nov. 14 before heading to the
Island of the Bahamas Showcase Nov. 17-19 in Nassau, Bahamas. The
Wildcats will play three games at the tournament. The tournament field and
schedule will be announced soon....

just out of curiosity I went to SeatGeek & StubHub to check the availability of tickets for the December 3 game at San Diego State...
Maybe more tickets will become available but... as it is right now, extremely few seats are available and they start at $98! ** **

One thing SeatGeek cites that was NOT previously known is that they say the game starting time is 8pm

Their 12,414 seat arena sells out for most games and they average only a few under a sellout -
in three seasons from 2012 thru 2015 they sold out every single game.
Their 80-game consecutive home sellout streak was finally broken last January...
So if many of those are season tickets, then there might not be a lot of tickets available.

Coastal Carolina just posted their schedule BUT...no mention of their non-conference games - just their conference schedule,
and absolutely NO MENTION of the Bahamas tournament that they are supposed to be a part of.

Likewise UTSA - http://goutsa.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball

bloggingthebracket.com was updated yesterday and still shows Iona in the Bahamas Showcase. However, now it's Duquesne that might be questionable. It's linked to an exempt tourney in Las Vegas that SIU is in.

(Scroll down to Bahamas Showcase.)

Question

BU @ Chicago St - local media coverage not that critical if BU can line up area HS coaches and potential future recruits to attend the game and meet players and coaching staff.

Duquesne released its schedule, today, and they are not in the Bahamas tournament:

(bloggingthebracket.com has not been updated to show the change.)
