after weeks of inaction & a little running & hiding - the NCAA finally comes out of hiding..
and as they always do - appoints a committee to look into the scandal that's already been thoroughly exposed by the FBI..

Here's the committee and as you'd fully expect - some big names but virtually EVERY ONE of them represents the BIG SCHOOLS that have the strong ties to the shoe companies and the big money..

Only ONE mid-major representative ...(the guy from Hofstra) but even then he's only been at Hofstra for a couple years and was AD at UConn before that!!

Hmmm...if this isn't like appointing the foxes to investgate the henhouse then what is it??

https://twitter.com/InsidetheNCAA/st...80576179425280

Also- a subpoena is asking for all kinds of stuff at Oklahoma State - gotta figure they are buying a bunch of new shredders & incinerators right now as we speak..
Wonder how much of this the people on Oklahoma State are going to try to hang on current Illini coach Brad Underwood to try to get them off the hook

Kansas is an Adidas sponsored school, and the rumor is that the investigation is looking into the recruitment of a 5-star 2018 kid named Zion Williamson, who some rate as the top player in the class of 2018, and who is being heavily recruited by Bill Self at Kansas.

Auburn's athletic Department likewise gets a federal subpoena to turn over years of records..
I sure hope they don't treat this investigation like BRUCE PEARL did the last time he was investigated..
He simply lied and lied and lied even though the investigators had the photographic proof that he was lying.

https://twitter.com/aldotcomSports/s...93531350016000

Everywhere Bruce Pearl has been - sleaze, cheating and corruption immediately show up..
What was it that Royce Waltman said?? That if you are an honest coach, losing will get you fired but if you cheat you will always get re-hired..

Here was his quote:

"If you get fired for cheating, you can get hired right back again.
If you get fired for losing, it’s like you’ve got leprosy, so young coaches need to bear that in mind.
Cheating and not graduating players will not get you in trouble, but that damn losing ..."

Today the University of Louisville Athletic Association Board of Directors is meeting with Rick Pitino and his lawyers in compliance with his contract to give him a hearing regarding his job status.

Some things that came out of today's hearing-
After he was suspended and placed on administrative leave since Sept. 27 pending today's hearing, the University Athletic Association Board finally fired Rick Pitino today-
http://www.courier-journal.com/story...dal/763259001/

Despite Pitino's appeal made by his team of lawyers, the vote by the Board was unanimous, as the school tries to make it look like they are striving to clean up Pitino's mess and hope to avoid further NCAA penalties that could include the death penalty, since they were already on probation from their stripper/prostitute scandal.

And despite Pitino's claims he did not know anything about this recruiting/bribery scandal, the Board obtained text messages from his phone that suggested that he was involved.
http://www.courier-journal.com/story...ing/768438001/

And one more embarrassing finding-
The family of Brian Bowen, the kid Pitino coveted and who the FBI says received $100,000 to attend Louisville, was "living" in an expensive high-end hotel in downtown Louisville!-
http://www.courier-journal.com/story...dly/768838001/

"The Galt House offers extended-stay, suite apartments believed to be in the general price range of $2,500 to $4,000 per month."

after the Louisville hooker scandal when Pitino claimed he didn't know a thing about it....
he was publicly criticized because if he DID NOT know anything about it, then he should have...
so he went public assuring everyone that this would never happen again and "even if one of his players broke up with his girlfriend, then he was gonna make sure he knew about it"...

Well, looks like Rick lied about that since he's using the "I never knew a thing until I read it in the newspaper..." excuse again

I think George Costanza said it best.

Interesting....
Matt Doherty- current Associate Commissioner of the Atlantic 10 Conference

says he is happy there's an investigation into cheating and corruption since the big schools get away with it all the time...

but here's where I think he indicts himself...

"Iím thrilled. Because as a former coach at high level institutions, I knew
what was going on and thatís one reason I went to the pros.

ďIím surprised it took this long. It was disheartening to the game and to
coaches that did it the right way. But, to me, itís a great day now."

https://wtop.com/sports-columns/2017...chool-problem/

So - he's admitting that he knew what was going on for years - even decades (he started coaching in 1989) and he kept silent about it and DID nothing!!!
In my opinion he is PART of the problem and just as guilty as anyone else who was cheating because he ran cover for them!

The other shoe has dropped at Louisville- The school's Board of Trustees voted 10-3 to fire their Athletic Director Tom Jurich Wednesday afternoon. He had been on administrative leave since Sept. 27. Rick Pitino was officially fired Monday by a unanimous vote of the school's athletic board.

TWO more of Auburn's current players (Austin Wiley, Daniel Purifoy- expected to be two of their top players and are among the leaders in returnees' scoring, rebounding, shooting pct, blocks, setals, etc)

...are now being held out for being identified as players who had contact with or took money from the agents or coaches named in the FBI charges...

Austin Wiley played in the Tournament of Champions at Washington High School 2 years ago for Spain Park High School in Hoover, Ala. He played against Koch Bar in one game I saw, and Wiley, who was just a junior at the time. It is no surprise that the shoe companies tried to latch onto him early as he was already a 5-star player and being recruited by many top schools. He outplayed Koch Bar in that game, but not by a lot. Now we know how he ended up at Auburn.

He learned from the master while he was at Memphis (John Calipari), but he may not have learned Calipari's secrets of how to cover his tracks and to maintain plausible deniability. Georgia Tech has already been forced to hold 2 of their star players (Josh Okogie and Tadric Jackson- 2 of their top 3 returning scorers) out of games for allegedly receiving money and gifts, pending the FBI investigation. This is not a good thing for a Georgia Tech program that has struggled for well over a decade, and has not had a winning ACC record since 2004!

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl has chosen not to cooperate with Auburn's internal investigation into the cash/bribery scandal that the FBI is also investigating. Auburn is one of the schools in the deepest with the scandal. Their top assistant Chuck Person has already been arrested and indicted by a grand jury for his part in funnelling money to recruits, and 2 of their top players are being held out while an investigation is underway into their eligibility..

an article today says the two Auburn players who are "suspended" (Wiley & Purifoy) are both still in school, still on the team and still practicing with the team.
Since they haven't played any games yet, that looks like a bit of a phony ISU-style suspension. *

There are even reports that they might be cleared to play in Auburn's opening game on Friday against Norfolk State.

One other note from the FBI investigation-
Part of the sealed portion of the FBI's case has been unsealed and released late this afternoon, and it is devastating for former Louisville head coach Rick Pitino. Despite his earlier claims that he knew nothing about the cash payments to recruits, the FBI investigation shows that Pitino knew all about the payments, and was involved in directing them to the recruits and their families!

http://www.wdrb.com/story/36798786/u...ent-to-recruit

And another article with more about the part of this scandal involving USC and assistant coach Tony Bland, who was also indicted-
