Default MVC signs new television deals

New 3-year deal to get games on CSN Chicago
http://www.mvc-sports.com/news/2017/...year-deal.aspx

then a separate new 3-year deal with an Indianapolis based Raycom to produce the ESPN3 games
http://www.mvc-sports.com/news/2017/...lo-raycom.aspx
http://www.mvc-sports.com/documents/...0_.pdf?id=1073

and another separate 3-year deal with Niles Media Group, a Kansas City based group to get MVC games onto FoxSports Midwest & NBCSports
http://www.mvc-sports.com/news/2017/...dia-group.aspx

No word on whether any other games might be broadcast locally - (other than the cable network & ESPN3 games) - altho I suspect not
I know the younger fans will find it surprising - but this scenario leaves out a whole lot of the older, long time fans who may not have the expanded cable packages and who rarely if ever watch streamed games. A lot of the older, loyal, long time fans still say they miss the games on local broadcast TV...
Dave Snell, Frank Bussone, Dick Versace, Chad Klein and others have spoiled a lot of the older generation and they still would like to see those games .

Exclamation Television

Local television of Bradley games would be a super major addition to our growing Basketball program! Television absolutely would not hurt game attendance.....In fact,TV will create fans young and old, will rejuvenate lost fans, Will create excitement over BU, will help boost game attendance, and will help in recruiting. This is a win-win situation and should be a tip/top priority for the coming year. Streaming is OK but it is a poor substitute for live local TV of games. Lots of potential fans simply do not have the ability to stream espn3 .....especially older potential fans who do not have computers or do not know how to get streaming on their computer.

2 Christmas’s ago, I gave my uncle a FireTV stick to watch the Bradley games on ESPN3 on his TV. At the time, he only had a flip phone, but was able to figure it out, even Star ed using Netflix.

I think if more people knew how (ie just need a smart TV stick or box) more probably would take advantage of it. But choosing the device can be a bit daunting.

Local TV is better. But the unfortunate reality is that the local stations have figured out that producing morning and multiple afternoon/evening news shows is a much cheaper way of satisfying the FCC local content mandate.

after a bunch of layoffs & some recent serious political issues and even threatened boycotts...

Now ESPN is dumping the Opening Night "Tip-off Marathon" of college basketball coverage
http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-bas...medium=twitter

It was one of their few programming decisions that actually covered a lot of mid-major basketball
