I wouldn't mind seeing these guys shoot more when they get an open "3"...

3-pt shooting percentage
Elijah Childs .556
Luuk van Bree .536
Ryan Stipoanovich .533
Jayden Hodgson .500
Darrell Brown .429
DLO .393
Nate Kennell .382

(current MVC League average is .372 with almost 3000 3-pt shots attempted so far by all 10 teams combined)

I have been saying that van Bree, Stipo, and even Childs need to shoot more. They are all shooting over 50% on threes, yet in 2 MVC games, Luuk has not attempted a single three pointer, Stipo is 1-2, and Childs is 1-1. Why don't we run more plays on offense to free up our 3-point shooters for open shots?

Default Can We Beat Them?

I think we should be able to beat Valpo at Carver. They have size and quickness, but if we play well, I think we can beat them by 8-10 points.

Any thoughts?

Default Can be competitive

Even though some folks have voiced their opinion that we have had a weak schedule and the coach can not recruit - I totally disagree. Granted there were a couple teams I wish we had not played, but overall we were evenly matched with the other teams. I am very impressed with the improvements made since Coach Wardle took over!

If Bradley can consistently play like they did against UNI, I believe we will be competitive against all of the MVC teams. Once we get a center that is an offensive threat, I believe Bradley will be one of the top three teams in the valley.

I hope Bradley continues to improve and more fans and students show up to support the team. Bradley is a fun team to watch again!

Valpo also played a very weak non-conference schedule, including 2 non-D1 schools and they won their first 8 games. But now they have lost 6 of their last 7, and the only win in that stretch was over one of the worst teams in the country, Santa Clara, whose RPI is 346. Their 6 losses over the last 3 weeks have been by an average margin of over 17 points. So what started out looking like a nice season has turned into a nightmare for Valpo. Bradley needs to go into Wednesday night's game with a killer mentality, and get them while they're down.

Valpo is the worst 3-point shooting team in the MVC (31.9% overall and 29.5% in conference games). They turn the ball over a lot. They average 16.1 turnovers per game overall, and 19.0 turnovers per game in their 2 MVC games. They are also last in team assists in MVC games with just 6.5 total assists per game. So they might be vulnerable to pressing their ballhandlers.

Also interesting to note- During the non-conference season, Bradley was the worst Free Throw shooting team in the MVC (65.0%). But in their 2 conference games, they are 30-34 (88.2%) and they rank #1 in the MVC! Bradley is also the top 3-point percentage team in MVC games shooting 45.2%.
MVC stats-
http://www.mvc.org/mbb/stats/confstat.htm

Considering it's a home game for Bradley where they are undefeated this season, I think everything points to a 10-12 point Bradley win.

Valparaiso has had a few personnel issues...

-Joe Burton, a full time starter and #2 scorer is no longer on the team (academics)

-Bakari Evelyn, a full time starter and their #3 scorer has been ill recently and was scoreless with 3 turnovers yesterday, Sunday vs.
Missouri State in 19 minutes (LINK)

-Tevonn Walker, their best player and top scorer at 16.2 ppg has missed four games with mononucleosis, but returned on 12/28.
He was held under his scoring average yesterday (11 pts) in a home game vs. Missouri State.

-both Burton and another full time starter Jaume Sorolla each also missed two games early in the season due to suspension for substance (alcohol & marijuana) related arrests.

In the two MVC games thus far, Valpo is either 8th, 9th or 10th place in MVC stats in scoring offense, scoring defense, FT shooting, 3-pt shooting, both offensive & defensive rebounding, assists, blocks, turnovers & A/T Ratio.
There's time to snap out of it, but thus far they have not played well in Valley play and they are 2-5 in road games (they won at SIUE and Santa Clara).

A loss to Valpo would be very disappointing I think.

There's still some discussion by Valpo fans as to whether their 2nd leading scorer Joe Burton could be back from "suspension"... (See this discussion)
The university's press release stated there would be no further public comments about the situation.

Burton was suspended for "failing to meet University academic standards" and school still has not resumed and won't until January 10, 2018.
So the presumption is that he is still suspended but nobody seems to know for sure.

The local beat guy said:
"Burton returned home to Texas on Tuesday (December 19) and his status is unclear for the remainder of the 2017-18 season and potentially beyond that."

But in a very odd comment by his teammate and reportedly good friend - Markus Golder, "tweeted out his support for Burton"
Golder said ...
"What kinda person you gotta be to take opportunities away from others? Some people ainít got no heart"
...which some of the Valpo fans take to be a little of a slam against the University...

The halftime entertainment Wednesday will be Quick Change. I don't know exactly how many times they have performed at a Bradley game, but it has to be around 15 or maybe more. I know people who will buy tickets to the game they perform at just to watch them. I've seen the act so many time, I wish they would change it a little, but it is essentially the same act they have always had.

Here is a bio of David & Dania, otherwise known as Quick Change-

I think they have changed it - they now use colored glitter

also - did you see last season, another similar act is horning in on their action- a nearly identical ripoff act!

Not so fast...
If you saw the biography I posted above of David and Dania, the Quick Change duo who will perform at Wednesday's Bradley game, you would have seen that they admit that they created their act in about 1996 and copied similar Russian acts who had been performing the "quick change" act internationally for years prior to that.
The YouTube video you posted is of Sos & Victoria Petrosyan, who happen to be the foremost Russian act who have been performing the "quick change" act since 1991.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...oria_Petrosyan

Thus, those two are not "horning in on" the act of David and Dania. It is clearly the other way around. David and Dania stole their "quick change" act likely from the Russian duo in that video, Sos & Victoria Petrosyan.

If there is anyone who has not seen Quick Change, they have several YouTube videos themselves. Here is one from when they appeared on the America's Got Talent TV show
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwFy7hC0yU

And there are literally dozens more that perform the same kind of act around the world.
Here are a few of them from Youtube-

I have run the gammet on Quick Change. From being totally amazed, to "How do they do that?", to "Didn't they do this the last time they were here?", to "Not Again", to "Honey I'll see ya before the 2nd Half", to "Okay it's still pretty darn amazing".

I'm still at the "Honey, I'll be back at the start of the 2nd half" stage.

Dating back to last season. Am I correct in saying we are going for 10 in a row at home tonight?

That is right - a win tonight will give us a 10-game winning streak on our home court - who'da thunk it..?
Been a while since we've seen that!
