Ridder would not be eligible this year and would have to sit out until 2018-19 due to transfer- so it is possible he may also go juco like Brady Ernst did.
He, like Elijah Childs, was one of the top players in Missouri last season

Former Xavier freshman, who left school there and is transferring, will enroll at Missouri State. This is a pretty good player for Missouri State. Because the NCAA rule requires a transfer to sit out 2 full semesters, he will not be eligible until the 2018-19 season.

Every article I can find suggests that he will be eligible at the start of the 2018-19 season. But since the NCAA rule requires sitting out "2 full semesters", and several weeks of the first semester have already passed, that would seem to me to mean he would have to wait until the 2nd semester of 2018-19. But who knows how the NCAA will rule on it.

in many such prior cases transfers early in the fall semester have had to sit out 'til midyear

One more really late add-on for 2017-18...
Valparaiso has added Patrick Robinson, a grad transfer from Detroit who is enrolled and practicing with the team while he is awaiting NCAA clearance for eligibility. He played 2 years of juco, then was at Detroit for 2 years but one was cut short with only 7 games played. So he may be able to appeal for an extra year of eligibility.

YET one more really late 2017 add-on....

Indiana State gets a transfer from Butler....

Cooper Neese had committed, signed and enrolled at BUTLER for 2017-18...
BUT apparently he either was not happy or the Butler staff was not too impressed with his progress...
he "did not see a good fit"...

So he left Butler a couple days ago and then Monday he announced he is transferring to INDIANA STATE. He won't be eligible until mid-year of 2018-19.

This article says he SIGNED with Indiana State, but he cannot sign a Letter of Intent.

He played high school basketball at Cloverdale (IN) which is a very small high school of about 400 total enrollment - roughly the size of Farmington or Beardstown HS.

a couple more notes..
This article seem to say Neese "didn't fit" at Butler and quotes the head coach -
" "It comes down to fit ....“You have to have guys that want to be here and understand guys that understand and appreciate Butler and what it is about."

...there were some red flags that began to be raised during the Indiana vs. Kentucky All-Star series in June in terms of whether or not Neese could contribute at the highest level of college basketball.”
...Obviously, Neese didn’t “fit” any of such criteria"

http://www.news-sentinel.com/sports/...lldog-program/

Also, Butler played four exhibition games in Spain this summer and Neese played in two of them scoring a total of just two points

seems like this idea of transferring before you ever even play a game (or play many) is catching on - Ridder, Chastain, Neese..

Here's a kid who came close to being a good Valley player....

but I doubt anyone will know this name - CARTER SKAGGS

He's a kid out of Logansport IN who got a few looks from some Valley schools but he got no offers..........DESPITE that he ranks seventh all-time in state history with 252 3-pointers over his high school career.

he was going to sign with a low DI but changed his mind & so he spent a year at Chipola (junior college) averaging just 8 ppg but hitting 40.4% on 3-pointers

But since he was a qualifier - he went thru the recruiting scene again after his juco freshman year and even got a CLOSE LOOK from Porter Moser and Loyola...
...but after a good workout- all he was offered was a walk-on spot...so Skaggs declined and planned to spend yet another year at Chipola and maybe try again for a DI opportunity.

BUT then, Loyola's assistant Bennie Seltzer got hired away to Washington State to work with Ernie Kent
When one of the Washington State commits failed to qualify at the last minute - SKAGGS texted Seltzer asking for another chance and GOT ONE.....

Skaggs jumped at the chance - and as a brand new DI sophomore at Washington State, it took a while to work his way into the rotation, but now he's doing great.

he LEADS the entire conference in 3-point shooting at .521 - hitting 20 of his last 30 attempts! and is Washington State's 3rd leading scorer.

Here's a story on him - a LOT of midwest teams really missed on the kid
