Scottie James does it again for Liberty- he had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the second straight game to help lead Liberty to a 75-55 win over Howard University. Liberty is now 5-2, and James is averaging 11.6 ppg, and a team leading 8.4 rpg.

I suggest everyone watch those highlights...
pretty impressive - the kid could be their conference player of the year in the next couple years

It's too bad he did not stick around. I really thought with his athleticism that he could have been a major contributor for us.

He's definitely one that got away but that's alright. I really like the direction the program is heading in!

Scottie James today - 19 pts & 15 rebounds
He took only 6 shots and even fouled out yet essentially carried his team - unfortunately they lost in 3OT

Scottie's 19 point, 15 rebound game today is his 3rd straight double-double!

Scottie James had another nice game today- 15 pts, 12 rebs - raising his season averages to almost 13 ppg/9 rpg...and he's moved into the starting lineup regularly now..

Did Scottie James leave, in your opinion, on his own accord or was he nudged? There were do many departures then.

Every player who has left under Coach Wardle, except for Jojo, left voluntarily, after they were counselled at the end of the year that their role may not increase. Playing time is what all players want, and that was the main reason for leaving.

Scottie is doing well and that extra year waiting to play at Liberty really helped him...

currently he is 16th in SCORIING in the CONFERENCE (BIG SOUTH) (altho that doesn't include today's stats so he might move up a notch)
and he is 2nd in REBOUNDING, 12th in FT PCT., 13th in BLOCKED SHOTS, and pretty much 1st or 2nd on his team in every stat except 3-pt shooting.
And he only averages 24 minutes per game - way less than the leaders on his team and in the league.

I thought Scottie James was going to be a good player. I was sorry to see him go.

This is going back quite aways but I saw a name in the paper I had forgotten about, Terry Laaker. Never flashy but more of a blue collar worker. I believe he came from Quincy. Blast from the past!!

only a few of the former Bradley players are still playing but a couple are having good years...

Josh Cunningham - a junior at Dayton averaging 16.3 ppg, 9.8 rpg, .698 FG%
Jordan Swopshire - a senior at Colgate averaging 11.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, .394 on 3-pointers
Xzavier Taylor - a senior at IPFW averaging 7.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg
Alex Foster - grad senior playing at Albany averaging 5.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg
Ronnie Suggs - sitting out this year at Mizzou

Davante Cooper - junior at Washington State averaging 0.4 ppg, and 1.0 rpg but barely plays
Joel Okafor - junior at Indiana Wesleyan (NAIA) averaging 5.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.7 apg
Scottie James - sophomore at Liberty averaging 12.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg, .652 FG%
Jerome Merritt - freshman at Eastern Florida (juco) averaging 6.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg
Lou Griffith - sophomore at Lincoln College (juco) averaging 13.8 ppg, 2.8 apg, 45.8% 3-pt shooting

possibly could help Ronnie Suggs get a little more chance at playing time next year-
Mizzou's 4-Star freshman point guard Blake Harris is leaving the team and transferring - apparently he is ticked at his playing time.. and took a few swipes in the press..

but he's a freshman, he's played in every game and started nine of them averaging only 3.8 ppg and 3 apg in 14 minutes per game.

Maybe he'd want to play in the MVC - we have Jojo's scholarship sitting open...

He was a 4-star point guard from North Carolina, and was also offered by multiple SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big East, Big 12, and even Pac-12 schools. Somehow, I don't see him landing at an MVC school in Peoria. But we can still dream.

If you are referring to Christian Williams, that is not really a fair comparison. First, he is from Decatur, less than 100 miles from Indiana State where he transferred to. So he was transferring back closer to home. The majority of transfers from major schools to mid-majors involve a kid transferring close to home.
And, where did you see anyone rating him a 4-star recruit? I don't believe anyone ever had him rated as a 4-star recruit or anywhere close to that.

Rivals was the only site that had him 3-stars-
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospec...-williams-7244
Scout unrated-

24/7 Sports unrated-

ESPN unrated-

Verbalcommits 2-stars-

But more significantly, he had only one offer from a Top 6 conference school, and that was Iowa. Every other offer he had was from a mid-major school. You are the one who is always ripping kids because they shoot too high. It looks like Iowa was a little too high for him. -

per the link I supplied:
"same confidence he had at St. Teresa that made him a four-star recruit"
