In the Southern Illinois game at St. Louis University tonight, transfer Marcus Bartley will play his first game for SIU. He suffered a broken bone in his shooting hand in a preseason practice and has not played yet. He played his first 2 seasons at St. Louis, and left in 2016, transferred to SIU, and sat out the 2016-17 season.
He averaged 4.9 ppg as a freshman there, and 3.8 ppg as a sophomore.

The Loyola game at Florida is on the SEC Network. Loyola is playing well and leads 29-19 with 6 minutes left in the first half.

The SIU game at St. Louis is on FoxSports Midwest. SIU leads 23-28 with under 8 minutes left in the first half.

Indiana State leads in the first half at North Texas, and Drake is tied at South Dakota 27-27 with 8 minutes left in first half.

Also, the ISU game at Brigham Young at 8:00 Central is on the BYU Network for those who get that.

Loyola continues to lead #5 ranked Florida 32-27 with a little over a minute left in the first half. However, Loyola guard Clayton Custer was just helped off the floor after what looked like at least a severe left ankle sprain or perhaps more serious.

Valley teams are leading in 3 of the games tonight
but not ISU...they look horrible and outmatched...
late in the first half they trail BYU 28-7 and yet they keep jacking up 3's from way beyond the arc...
Yarbrough is 0-2, Tinsley 0-4, Bruninga scoreless..

They better turn it around fast...

Loyola shooting extremely well still leads late in their game at Florida
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-bas...meId=400987227

Drake hung close at South Dakota at the half, but they have been outscored 40-15 in the 2nd half and are now getting blown out-
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-bas...meId=400989331

Indiana State playing well is still leading at North Texas State late in their game-
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-bas...meId=400989641

And Southern Illinois shooting well and still leading at St. Louis late in their game-
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-bas...meId=400989642

Illinois State is getting clobbered at BYU. They are shooting 18% and are 0-12 from three. Dan Muller has even resorted to playing his deep reserves and even walkons Luke Litwiller and Isaac Gassman to try to make a point with his starters. BYU leads 30-13 with about 3 minutes left in the first half-

When Bradley plays the Redbirds, the Braves can defend 5 on 4 and leave Tinsley unguarded. What a disappointment!

It really defies logic, and I think he'll eventually pull out of this slump, hopefully not against Bradley. He is 0-5 overall and 0-4 from three so far in this game tonight. On the season he is now 10-54 (18.5%) overall from the floor, and 6-40 (15.4%) from three.

I almost posted earlier that it would be something if Loyola put it off, but I figured I would jinx them. Glad I kept my mouth shut! What a huge win!!

SIU played well, shot well and led almost the whole way, then a few missed FTs and turnovers down the stretch..
Final score
Saint Louis 74 - SIU 69

Indiana State also had the lead thru most of OT then a couple fouls & miscues, and they lose
North Texas 79 - Indiana State 76

Loyola 65 - #5 Florida 59

South Dakota State 93 - Drake 65

so MVC looks like they will go 1-4

This ISU game makes me wonder how many "extra scholarships" Muller is gonna free up at the end of this season to get some consistent offense and some players who commit to defense... or who can just stay healthy

Bruninga is having his best game since the FGCU opener. 15 points with about 6 minutes to go.

I applaud the Redbirds for playing hard in the 2nd half...but don't you think the BYU defense let up a little, and TB does hurt a bit on defense trying to guard Childs and getting eaten alive on every play...

Every couple minutes some BYU guy is setting a career high in shooting, rebounding or assists..

Valley record goes to 60-26

Disappointed with the Birds record so far, but what would you think if the Bradley bench consisted of Martin, Gassman, Hein, and Litwiller, while a starter was shooting around 15% from the field? Hoping for a top four finish in the Valley but who knows? Weakest reserve strength I’ve seen in decades. Consider yourself fortunate that BU has a fairly deep rotation.

Taylor Bruninga got hot from three in the 2nd half and ended up with a career high 20 points, all in the second half. Tinsley played only 2 minutes in the 2nd half, and he and Madison Williams ended up scoreless.

BYU held on for the 89-68 win-
https://byucougars.com/event-stats/m...x-score/121388

For some reason, the ESPN box score shows Bruninga with just 18 points, though the official box score had him for 20.

Final post of the night because this old guy is sleepy....regarding Clarance, I am Intrigued by the prospect of a 6’4” left handed natural point guard. But I acknowledge he is a freshman and will be prone to mistakes and may suffer re-injury. N’Diaye is merely tall and not an offensive threat at all, but may alter shots and pull a few rebounds while occupying space in the middle. Romine remains a mystery. I will however, trade you Tinsley and Hein for your Elijah Childs.

I think Bradley fans will pass on your generous offer.

Despite Loyola's huge upset at Florida, with the other 4 losses, the MVC drops to 7th in conference RPI-
