Default Bradley offers Class of 2017 point guard?

We don't have a scholarship open but there is a report from verbalcommits.com & elsewhere that we have offered Class of 2017 point guard David Sloan
He is a TOP-150 ranked player nationally according to one ranking service (#126) from Campbellsville, KY

http://verbalcommits.com/players/david-sloan
http://zsmart.blogspot.com/2017/01/s...stang.html?m=1

He has some other high offers (Butler, Louisville) but coach seems to know something...he recently left Kentucky and transferred to prep school in Florida - the same school that is currently coached by Shaun Wiseman - the same coach that both Koch Bar & Jayden Hodgson had last year in Florida.

Averaged 20ppg, 43% from 3-pt

It would seem to me that if we were going to add another player we would add anything except a PG for next year.....but I guess if he's a shooter it would be ok...

I was thinking the same thing. We need a big body that isn't soft. Our big players are soft.

A few other facts on on newest offer, David Sloan...

He's listed variably as 5-11, 6-0 or 6-1...he was in the running and mentioned as a top contender for the Kentucky Mr. Basketball this year...
but he wanted to transfer to a bigger high school - possibly for more exposure - and also he said he wanted to be closer to family...
so he announced last fall that he wanted to transfer to Louisville Ballard High School. However, the KHSAA ruled him ineligible, judging that his transfer was NOT for family or legitimate reasons but was for athletic reasons - which then requires he sit out a year according to their bylaws.

So, he sought other options and landed at the same prep school in Orlando, FL that we have talked about previously - The Conrad Academy, which has a high level prep basketball team that is coached by Shaun Wiseman - the same coach that both Koch Bar & Jayden Hodgson had last year at Arlington Country Day School.

Another of the nation's top unsigned players is also at the Conrad School - Luguentz Dort - LINK - who played last year with Bar & Hodgson at Arlington Country Day.

David Sloan was just nominated to the McDonald's All American Game

It seems unusual to be looking at another point guard. However, the coach has a better idea of the Bradley teams roster next year. Otherwise I would agree we could use a defender/enforce in the front line. Also you can never have enough shooters. However, with competition of that type for his signature I doubt that we have to worry about too many point guards next year.

They play at the highest level of any prep school - competing in the biggest national tournaments with the top teams

Don't know why, possibly because they are a relatively new program - they don't get a lot of national coverage

t, I believe you mentioned offers from Butler and Louisville but they are not mentioned on Verbal Commits. I did see one blog about one of their offers.

I'm assuming Verbal Commits is not up to date or were those offers pulled?

We saw what happened to one of Les' last teams when Maniscalco went down and we were too thin at PG. Sure we need big men EP, but we also should have another quality PG just in case.

don't know - all those big offers were when he was playing in Kentucky as a sophomore & junior...

then once he was declared ineligible in Kentucky- those offers are never mentioned much afterwards - so maybe they have backtracked now that they haven't been able to get to Florida to watch him..

Possibly one of the early developers and schools backed off as the players matured? However, his stats seem to be the type of player Bradley needs.

It's also possible that the big boys were never really seriously recruiting the kid too. Kids make this stuff up all the time to create some recruiting buzz.

Jayden Hodgson moved over 8,000 miles and landed on Head Coach Shaun Wiseman's squad...and Bradley also landed Koch Bar from Shaun Wiseman's squad...
even more kids (definitely multiple) Bradley is recruiting move from school to school following wherever Shaun Wiseman goes to coach - LINK - LINK - LINK

Now another kid Bradley is known to be pursuing lands on Shaun Wiseman's squad...
I have a feeling there's more than just coincidence going on here...and it just so happens this article details the connection, as our assistant Drew Adams is involved with the same organization as his father Mark Adams and Shaun Wiseman, that is a charitable organization that helps get kids from war-torn African nations (e.g. - Koch Bar) into schools here in the US

Sounds similar to the Les/Corn pipeline... Let's hope so.

I think it's just more solid evidence that our staff are not just sitting in their rocking chairs but they are out there using their connections and beating the bushes earning their paychecks

If he is legitimately 6'1" wardle could be thinking of starting him and brown. Having two guards who can shoot, score off drives and read the floor as passers would be a positive. It's not like our current shooting guards have a stranglehold on the position. If coach is dedicated to playing uptempo/fast, having 2 pg's on the floor all the time is a quick way to achieving that. He already does that a fair amount with brown/hogden. With no third pg on the team, he runs the risk of foul trouble/injury side-lining one or both of them and putting us in a bind.

Plus if he and Childs are both borderline McDonald's all-Americans you can't turn away a talent infusion like that if you can pull it. As people love saying on this board, we're not Kentucky, we're not getting anything better.

If I had played at a bigger high school I would have been in all kinds of YouTube highlight videos: getting stitched into clownsuits by all the actual ballers.

I'm not sure Brown is best suited to play PG. If we find a better PG I think Brown can excel as the off guard or combo guard, ala Will Franklin.
