some more followups...

Andrew Warren's Taipans - who have been a perennial bottom dweller - are right in the thick of things -- only 2 games out of 1st place..
Drew is averaging 15ppg, 4 rpg, and continues to hit 80% on FT's

Chris Roberts continues to be opne of the NBDL Texas Legends' best players averaging 13.5 ppg, 2 steals per game and hitting an amazing 94% of his FT's!!!

Boogie averages 17.7 ppg for the Halifax Rainmen in Canada

Zach Andrews' LA D-Fenders play Osiris Eldridge's Bakersfield Jam tonight..
Zach starts and averages 11ppg, 9 rpg (tops on the team), hits 64.3% from the field (also team best), and 1.3 steals

Ex-Brave Darian Norris had a great game for San Diego last night 14 pts, 5 asst.

Ex-Peoria Manual Ram Marvin Jordan had a good game for Niagara 16 pts, 5 rebs

Ex. ISU Redbird Jeremy Robinson has turned out to be Chicago State's best player and he had 16 pts, 8 rebs, 4 steals last night but Chicago State is so bad they simply cannot beat anyone --
their home game last night drew only 234 announced attendance and I suspect there were fewer than that..

Ex-BU recruit Dwight Buycks continues to have tremendous games in the NBDL for Tulsa
Last night he had 30 pts, 6 rebs, 5 asst - and is averaging 16 ppg.

That story also notes that another couple Valley alums will also compete...

"A pair of 3-Point Competition champions, Booker Woodfox (Texas Legends), who won in 2011
and Blake Ahearn (Reno Bighorns), who was victorious in the event in 2009,
face off against sharp shooters Moses Ehambe (Iowa Energy) and Lee
Humphrey (Rio Grande Valley Vipers) in the 2012 Dream Factory 3-Point Competition.

The competition has two rounds, featuring a moveable money rack consisting
of all money balls, each worth three points. From the field of four, the two
players with the highest scores will move on to Round 2 and the player with
the highest score in Round 2 is the winner."

http://nblcanada.pointstreaksites.co...nship-playoffs

http://nblcanada.pointstreaksites.co...11-2012-season

And last night in their first playoff game at Quebec - Bogie's Rainmen WON 96-87 behind another great game for Boogie...
27 minutes, 5-12 and 3-7 from 3pt, 16 pts, 7 rebs, 2 asst, 1 blk

The All Star game will be after the first couple rounds of playoffs on April 1.

Patrick O'Bryant gets mention as Puerto Rican Player of the Week...
"Patrick O'Bryant (213-C-86) of Mayaguez - 20 points and 12 rebounds"
http://www.latinbasket.com/Puerto-Ri...?NewsID=265751

POB is averaging 15 ppg & 9 rpg in leading his team to 1st place @ 9-3

BTW -- did anyone else know defunct PJS writer and editor Bill Liesse is still writing??

He compares Illini Meyers Leonard to Patrick O'Bryant...

Thank goodness Illinois didn't hire Reggie Theus (as Bill suggests). They already were working on the second tier, why would they drop to a 3rd or 4th tier?

By the way, here is some Reggie Theus trivia-
Reggie Theus has had a lot of coaching jobs previously, including head coach of the Las Vegas Slam (ABA). He was also an assistant coach at Louisville under Rick Pitino, then he was the head coach of the New Mexico State Aggies (NCAA), and of the Sacramento Kings (NBA), and then most recently he was an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves under Kurt Rambis.

Does anyone know which coaching role Reggie Theus lasted the longest at? This should be easy for all the Generation X and Y fans.

Click mouse and highlight to see the answer-
As an actor, he played head basketball coach Bill Fuller of the Deering High School Tornadoes (a fictional Indiana high school) on the TNBC Saturday morning kids' sitcom Hang Time for the first three seasons that the show aired. None of his other coaching gigs lasted more than 2 seasons.

Yet another fine week for Patrick O'Bryant -

and his last game Saturday night was a monster game...
18 pts, 12 rebs, 3 asst, 4 blocks, in a 106-103 OT win that sends his Mayaguez team into 1st place all alone at 11-3

BTW -- BU's Theron Wilson has now started playing with Geelong in the Aussie league...
Saturday Theron had 17 pts, 9 rebs and Geelong is off to a 4-0 start in their league which plays thru the summer...
His 4-game averages are 18 ppg, 7 rpg

Some nice play recently by Zach Andrews...
The LA D-Fenders have advanced to the NBDL semi's with a 94-92 win over the Iowa Energy...
http://twitter.com/#!/DFenders/statu...59905867894785

Theron Wilson's Geelong Supercats - are now atop their league at 6-0 in their spring thru summer season..
with Theron quickly becoming a fan favorite scoring 25 and 27 in his past two games and
now averaging 20.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg, and giving fans some exciting dunks.
He is also 6-9 on 3-pointers in the past two games after starting slowly on outside shooting.

Jam also advance but Osiris Eldridge has not been playing and is no longer listed on their roster...
The unofficial report is that he got into a dispute with Bakersfield Jam management over his playing time and was told to leave - now being dismissed from his 3rd consecutive pro team...

Patrick O'Bryant is on a torrid streak...
His Mayaguez Indios squad leads their league by 4.5 games at 19-6, with POB averaging 13.2 ppg/8.2 rpg, and 2 blocks
His past two games, both wins, POB has had games of..
10 pts, 13 rebs, 3 blk and ..
22 pts, 16 rebs, 2 blk

And although Andrew Warren's season in Australia is done - their summer league is in full action as
Theron Wilson has led his Geelong Supercats to the top spot at 7-0, and in his most recent game last Saturday,
Theron had 15 pts, 9 rebs, 5 steals, and he had 20 pts/8 reb in his previous game

the Puerto Rican League playoffs use an unusual round robin system...and current at 5-2, POB's Mayaguez squad is in the top spot in the payoffs...
They are about to start the elimination round, and POB is still playing well

BTW -- ex-Wichita State Shocker Ramon Clemente has been added to Mayaguez' roster - which is allowed at playoff time because he and his family are considered citizens of Puerto Rico!

Meanwhile on the other side of the earth - Theron Wilson - playing in Australia - is beginning to get a few pieces written about him as he is quickly becoming an Australian league superstar...
His most recent performance - a double double with 16 pts, 11 rebs - is becoming pretty much the norm for him...

here's a nice article picturing Theron...

Marcellus Sommerville, after a rough start, has led his team in the top pro league in France, Le Mans, to the 4th best record of all teams and they begin the playoffs tonight.
Cellus is averaging 13 pts, 7 rebs over the regular season - Good luck Cellus!

Unfortunately Cellus' team lost last night - but it sure wasn't the fault of Cellus and his co-starter, American and ex-ISU recruit JP Batista...

Between the two of them in just 45 minutes of combined court time, they had 30 pts, 13 rebs, while the entire rest of their team (9 other players logging 155 minutes) chipped in only 34 pts & 20 rebs
Now Cellus' Le Mans squad are down to an elimination game on Friday...

By the way - the D-League is done for the year but they just had a nice article about Zach Andrews and
how he has meant so much to the D-Fenders and the D-League, and overcome so many obstacles in his life..
"I’m the best kind of example for kids growing up in the foster care system
because we’ve all been told we wouldn’t amount to anything better than what we are.."
