Great For Coach Les! I hope he wins the NCAA tournament a few times before he retires. What a great guy and a good Coach!! Sickens me to know that he got run out of town by the last administration. ((((

Coach Les & UC-Davis pick up a win against a Power-5 conference..

UC-Davis 81 - Washington State 67

Washington State was undefeated - coming off wins against St. Joe's, #21 St. Mary's and San Diego State...

and UC-Davis led by double digits almost the entire way and even withstood a barrage of 3-pointers

It's UC-Davis' first win against a P-5 school in 12 years and a real quality win!
Davante Cooper did not get in the game.

In addition to beating previously undefeated Washington State at Pullman, Washington today, Jim's team almost pulled off a win at Washington last Sunday. UC Davis lead much of the game, and held a lead with under 7 minutes left. But then they faded and lost 77-70.
With today's win, UC Davis is now 5-2 despite only playing one game on their home court so far this season. It was thought they might have an off year after Jim's 23-win season last year that took them to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, and they won their opening NCAA Tournament game before losing to Kansas. However, Jim had a good recruiting class, plus they have last year's Big West Player of the Year, Chima Moneke (currently averaging 22 pts & 11 reb per game) back for his senior year. They now have a couple home games before having to play 4 straight on the road again, which includes a game at Nevada, the team that just clobbered Illinois State by 30 points. It's a tough non-conference schedule, but Jim never shied away from playing tough non-conference opponents.

as most small schools do to balance the budget, they have to do a couple guarantee games each year ...

Their home average attendance the past 3 seasons has been about 2,300, about 50% higher than the 1200-1600 they used to draw before Jim was hired..
Where many DI schools have gradually been seeing declining attendance, schools like UC-Davis & FGCU have surged ...
FGCU would rank around 3rd and UCD around 6-8th in home attendance if they were in the MVC

UC-Davis' Chima Moneke is the CollegeInsider.com National Player of the Week!!
He averaged 18 pts/13.5 rebs per game & led @UCDavisMBB to an 81-67 win over previously undefeated Washington State
..and will certainly also be the Big West Player of the Week

The Lou Henson Award is awarded to the top Division I mid-major player each week.

UC-Davis zooms to RPI of 22 & SOS of 41 - both of which would be at the top of the MVC

Actually ISU's SOS is around 18 and UNI's is around 23.

Bigger question is why is the majority of the MVC 175 and higher on SOS?

In a few years Wardle will either be fired or leave for a much better job. When that happens will you guys stump hard to bring back Jim Les or is there too much bad blood for Jim to consider moving back to Peoria?

There is no way he will ever coach at Bradley again. He is happy where he is. But if he did return, I'd guarantee the program would do well, and we'd see a lot of fans return and attendance numbers start to approach where they once were.

And I don't think Wardle would be so quick to jump to another job as you think. He is the second-highest paid coach in the MVC. He would have to become wildly successful and have a pretty high level offer to leave.

I thought he was easily the highest paid now that 3G is gone? Pretty sure he is.

there are reports that loyal donors at UNI are chipping in & helping out with paying Ben Jacobson and so his take home is $1 million/yr...(LINK}
and I doubt anyone else in the MVC is even close to that.

If Bradley has some success by this season's end and next year then Brian Wardle will be getting accolades as a successful rebuild specialist - taking Bradley from about as bad as a program can be to a success.
That will instantly get his name mentioned for other rebuild projects like DePaul or if needed - Marquette...

Jank scheduled like a p*$$*. There is no debating that.

HCDM schedules hard IMO. As hard as he can anyway. I like the games he goes after.

He doesn't win them all but he plays 'em. Since Dan took over I think the list of non-con schools is more than respectable overall. To name a few:

Louisville
Kentucky
Maryland
South Carolina
Ole Miss
VCU
St Joe's
Florida GC
BYU
Seton Hall
Boise St
Tulsa
Dayton
Northwestern--they bought out their scheduled return trip to Normal
Old Dominion
UAB

As for your reference to "coaches" plural.........only the ridiculous St X game in 2018 for HCBS has been loudly booed. at least that i can think of.

Ben Jacobson signed a 10 year extension in 2015 that upped his pay to $900,000 per year-

You are reporting 2-year old news...
he has since signed another contract that carries thru 2027, and allows him additional
"bonuses available based on the performance of the Panthers in regular and postseason play."
