Here's an article on DLO - calling his play this weekend "impressive"

DLO still getting further writeups and praises for how well he played in this Paris event...
he played at a world-class level against high level professional players from Europe & elsewhere..

pretty sure we're getting a fine recruit in Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye!!!

This may have been posted before, but it is a great article about Bradley recruit Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye-
http://switchtheplay.com/stories/dwa...tier-ogunleye/

...“In the end I had a chance to visit Bradley and I was just overwhelmed with the situation there. An important aspect is that I can see how I can grow.”

it notes that he could have "settled" for playing on the British U18 team which he would have made easily...but his work ethic told him to step it up, play against the pros, develop his game and he made the U20 team - playing up a couple years!!
This is great to hear -- a kid with this kind of work ethic - the days of lamenting our team's "toughness" and work ethic are over -

Today is the final practice for the U20 British team - then they trim the team down and travel to Spain for some warmup games before the U20 World Championship

Default When Will DLO Be on Campus?

Good Morning,

Does anyone know when DLO will be on campus to start school and practices with the team. Does the team practice in the summer?

I know several of you probably can help me with the answer. So, thank you in advance.

there can be no actual basketball practices during the summer - NCAA rules...

what the NCAA does allow are limited (a couple hours per week) conditioning sessions that the coaches can be present for - and of course the kids are allowed and encouraged to play 5-on-5 and independent weights & lifting & scrimmages...but coaches can't be in charge..

One other great advantage is that each kid can get a couple hours of classes in over the summer and thus lessen the required workload for September thru May..

Lautier-Ogunleye won't be on campus until the 2nd summer session as he is playing in the FIFA U20 World Championship as a member of the Great Britain U20 team - and that competition winds up July 19 - so he'll be here after that, and get a little bit of a late start for Bradley's 2nd summer session (July 13 thru August 14).

oh - btw - do some schools violate the NCAA summer practice rules??
Probably a lot but a few do get caught - LINK, LINK, LINK

One other MVC player is involved with the U20 World Championships

SIU incoming freshman Rudolfs Stradnieks who is from Lee Academy in Maine (same school as Stefan Zecevic)
is on the Latvian U20 squad.
The Latvian squad is playing in the same competition for the U20 Championships - but are instead playing in a different group (Group B) for pool play and will not meet the British team unless both advance to knockout stage.

The Latvian team may just be hurting, though - as they had their first tune exhibition game against a team of Lithuanian students and got clobbered 76-46.
Stradnieks did not play.
They played again on unday against the Lithuanian U20 team and lost 63-50. (btw- Evansville's Egidijus Mockevicius is ineligible for the Lithuanian team as he is already 22 years old, but the Lithuanians have Gonzaga's Domantas Sabonis - son of Arvydas Sabonis (pictured in article below playing against Mockevicius).

Game is currently at the end of the 1st quarter...
Great Britain leads Poland 17-12

DLO is 1-1 from 3 pts range and has 3 pts - no player on Britain has more than 4 pts - six players have scored
lots of fouls being whistled - 17 already in the 1st quarter

Now at halftime....

Britain up 41-38
UTEP's Josh McSwiggan (playing for Britain) leads all scorers with 14 pts on 5-8 overall and 3-4 from arc
Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye is 2nd leading scorer for Britain with 8 pts!!!
DLO also leads all players with 4 assists & he has 2 rebounds & a steal

6-7 Polish shooting guard Jakob Niziol is reportedly impressing with 10 pts/3 reb on 3-5 and 2-3 from the arc in just 9 minutes off the bench.
He is an amateur and is UNCOMMITTED -- maybe Coach Wardle has some Polish contacts??

For Belgium Andy van Vliet has 10 pts, he is Bo Ryan commit to Wisconsin - LINK
