Bradley Athletics Fan Advisory Council created

The Bradley Athletic Department is committed to improving fan experience, and they want fans' input. A Bradley Athletics Fan Advisory group has been created that consists of some athletic department staff, BU alumni, donors, Braves Club members, and fans, and they are seeking input from fans, ticket buyers, attendees of athletic events, and followers of Bradley athletics.
Since we have had a lot of past discussions here about issues regarding fan experience and things could be changed, I'd like to ask members of Bradleyfans to post their input here and I will get the questions, concerns or advice to this Fan Advisory Council.
Note that this advisory group won't be dealing with issues related to teams, coaches, recruiting, etc., but with the things that the Bradley athletic department can deal with or improve.
Here is your chance to help improve the fan experience at games and elsewhere.
Please post your thoughts!

Better communication on all Bradley athletics to the public. Who is playing who when. Maybe the new SID will be doing that

OK. So as long as you asked.....
1. I would love to see mens b'ball non-conference games on weekends worthy enough to drive down to P'town to attend and perhaps spend the night there.
2. Would someone explain why we don't schedule former MVC schools on our schedule? Have we really pissed off that many current and former ADs that they won't consider us for future games....and if so why?
3. Does any anyone under this current scenario, we will NEVER get an NCAA bid unless we win the MVC tournament? And we are good with that?

I'm not sure fan opinions or suggestions will have much effect on the scheduling issues.
The weekend game thing, especially more Saturday (night) games, is something I have always been in favor of.
Another suggestion we've seen discussed here is the bland and sometimes slow updating of the Bradley webpages. Is anyone bothered by that?

What about promotional things during the games, the team merchandise that's available at games, etc.
And are there any suggestions for fan events in the preseason and during the season, or post-season?

Have meet the team events. Open up a practice once in awhile.

There needs to be an upgrade in halftime “entertainment”. If they can’t afford to hire prior acts, at least have local high school marching bands with their cheerleaders. And bring the dogs back that chase frisbees

There needs to be more community outreach. They should be sending the teams around to community events to try to get more interest in the games. It seems like people have more buy-in if they know the players.

Also, the merch at games needs to be expanded, and they need to have the same items available at the Colosseum during off game times so people can stock up. I feel like they price a lot of average fans out of buying merch.

For now, I feel the the biggest area for improvement would be to get more creative and more entertaining with the with the timeout and especially halftime entertainment slots.

Bring in at least one decent paid act a year.

The rest of the year, do cheap/free things that involve the community and students. Some sort of games or mini olympics that pits band against a frat, or the cheerleaders, or braves club members, local sports teams, whatever. Somebody needs to watch a bunch of Dude Perfect content and come up with some ideas. It wouldn't be that hard.

or Savannah Bananas content.

Establish some sort of consistency with the game day experience. If you went to an Illinois football game 20 years ago, and compared it to today, there are numerous traditions that still apply. And fans look forward to these traditions. Bradley can’t even have consistency throughout a single season. I blame this on the reoccurring rollover of staff who had no previous knowledge of Bradley, and only want to come in and do what they did at the last school they worked at because it’s easy for them.

And bring Dave Vroman back out of retirement.

Get the game day experience more coordinated. Figure out how to get the music and announcer in sync, play music that makes sense. Last time I was at a game I felt like I was at a high school game, nothing really seemed to flow. I know you have white out games, but expand that to do sections of red and sections of white. Have something like souvenir hand towels to wave at the game.

Find a way to get the students at the game. Maybe some sort of competition between frats and dorms, winners get merch or maybe food at the game.

For us out of towners, a central site where I can get news. I want to see the post game press conferences, links to any radio interviews that coach does, links to PJ Star stories, Bradley Scout stories, etc. Also a single place to find historical info - school records, team members, year by year results, etc. The MVC should have the same thing.

And bring Dave Vroman back out of retirement.
I ran into Dave a few weeks ago...found something on FB Marketplace I wanted to buy and it was Dave selling....
We chatted a bit and I am pretty sure he ain't coming back out of retirement...

couple more suggestions....

- above all else get one DEDICATED guy who can answer the phone and respond when fans call with ticketing questions,
and do your best to make the fans happy!

- just spontaneously give a call to the 20, 30, and 40 year season ticket holders and lower bowl folks and greet them, let them know
they are valued. I have heard many fans say they don't think anyone at Bradley even knows or cares who they are.

- Get one high profile guy, maybe Cellus or any of the fan favorites to cruise the Civic Center and engage with fans - talk with them
greet them, interact with the kids, maybe a few freebie handouts, keychains, decals, just things that make the fans feel like'a valued part of the experience.

- Get the Civic Center to sell concessions that fit with Bradley Basketball. How about Bradley themed beer,
pretzels that are shaped in the form of the block "B" or script "B", and add Avanti's pizza to the Gondolas already sold there.

- here's some ideas from before that I agree with

Can someone ask why the hell is the music so loud! When you have to yell to try and have a conversation with the person right next you, it's too freeking loud. There has got to be some local acts who would love the exposure of performing at the Civic Center. As for the students nothing has worked since the Molinarmy days. Just not sure you can incentivize them enough to get more of them there.

Is there a way to create a "Virtual Seat"? With all the tech in this world, surely its possible. Have a "seat" reserved for recording and broadcasting the game live. Put it front and center. Then sell the "seat" online for people to watch live online virtually. Charge an attractive price and allow unlimited viewers to purchase the "seat".

I think when it comes down to it Bradley can only do so much on the direction of college sports.I think they are beginning to feel the lack of interest in season ticket renewals. One thing that they can do is not change conference tournament or find another MVC commissioner. The in game antics do very little when you look at the big picture.
