Jaquan Johnson in the portal

Tommy, I hope you and others decide to stick around. Bradley and this board needs all the support they can get these days. I do not have personal relations as those that live or can visit Peoria. Bradley's Peoria recruits appear to be staying and need fan support to step up their game.

I admit that Bradley's taking over the NIL has me very concerned. It seems fans on here are always complaining about communications dealing with tickets and events. BU is taking on a lot more duties and where is the extra help coming from? I want my contributions to go to the men's basketball program.

I have been a Bradley fan through thick and thin since the early/mid 50s and it would be hard to change. I am hoping for a successful recruiting and reading personal articles on the new team.

Think I’m out. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I just have no interest in watching a brand new team of 2nd rate players every year. And in the rare occasion we find someone decent, they’ll just get poached to ride the bench at a PC the next year. Thanks NCAA, you suck.
I hear ya-
I will watch Bradley and maybe a few other select games, but I pass on all this other crap like the games between the
10th place SEC team and the winner of the 30th strongest conference tourney in the country with a 12-22 record

It is on the NCAA and schools. They created a billion dollar business (ads, merch, video games, etc.), and then told the kids that they couldn't benefit. If they would have let them sell memorabilia and merch this likely could have been avoided.
They are benefitting more then every college kid on their campus. Getting a free ride, meals a tutor plus they get to see the country for free. They also have connections that help with them finding over seas pro basketball teams in order to continue on with that career path. Who else at these colleges or Universities get these kind of benefits. Figure out the cost on 4 or more likely 5 years free at Bradley on these benefits.
I had zero problem if these athletes got paid for doing commercials which was suppose to be what NIL was for instead of pay to play.

If someone was making millions based on your skill and name in perpetuity, and you only get a free education, that would be fine to you?

The staff is directly responsible in training and getting these players better by putting in a huge amount of time. Now if they were to pay them an equal amount of money somewhere around 10 to 20 thousand it would be ok. There is no one on our team that is worth 50 grand period. This was suppose to be an amateur sport and not professional.
I like how you say a free education like it is not worth something. The ones that stay and graduate would be looking at a bill of 200 thousand plus if not for the scholarship. That is why they were called student /athletes which now is a friggin joke.

You are missing the point, and this line of thinking is exactly how we got in this mess. And I'm not sure how them paying nothing to go to school is not a free education 🤔

Any product you get for free still has a value.

Bully will get paid around $1M (or more) total for his final two seasons of college ball. If he invests most of that he will have $2M by age 30, $4M by age 40, and $8M by age 50. I don't think any one of us would NOT encourage our kid to take the money like Bully's doing. I wish him well.
Yes, I’m sure Bully will invest most of his earnings in mutual funds and CD’s.

Dont give up on the Braves. They have a good nucleus coming back plus so far a good group of talented players coming in next year. I think talent wise we should be better next season overall

I think so too...need to get some ball-handlers cause man, that was the thing that kept us in games and one of our biggest strengths.last season. Could we get another Terry Roberts?

BW did an excellent job with the players he had, receiving the second seed in the MVC tourney, and will do the same with what he has next season. Every season, it seems it takes the team 3-5 games to work out the kinks, then they operate like a well-oiled machine, or nearly so. Next season shouldn't be any different. The naysayers and whiners on this board can leave if they want. Can you see yourselves out or do you need assistance finding the door? There will still be a great group of BU supporters here to continue without you.

I can understand the frustration and anxiety that comes with the departures. Everyone is wanting Bradley to succeed. I would rather have it that way than not caring what Bradley did at all. Keep that passion. I would like to add for everyone to redirect their frustration from on here to the people who helped to create the mess and the ones who can do something about it...the NCAA...find out their email, their address, their phone number. Bombard them

In my opinion Wardle did his best coaching job considering the inconsistent play of our front line and a new coaching staff. Whether all the new players that will come to BU can gel as a team remains to be seen. Let us hope so. So sad to see Jaquon leave, but wish him nothing but the best. The old saying goes next man up. Time for DR and Zobrist to step up. Here is your chance.

IMO last season was definitely NOT Wardle's best coaching job, tho I have heard a couple on here mention that along with a couple broadcasters during BU games. Top 3 maybe - he did a very good job nonetheless.

The season before was better as Wardle regrouped his seniors after a 3-game funk to win a lot of games in Feb and March.

Go back 7 years when the Braves started the MVC season 0-5 and somehow managed to get the 5-seed and then win their 1st ever Arch Madness. The following season was a great one too but in a tough Valley. BU lost on senior day to Loyola by 1 pt which put them from a 2-seed to a 4-seed. Yet Wardle directed them (along with DB Jr's remarkable play) to b2b Arch Madness titles.

I won't even mention the season BU won the conf. title vs Drake, rebounding from a massacre at Drake earlier in the season. The MVC was weaker that season so IMO that wasn't his best coaching job.

Yet with all this reflection, it's all relative. ;)

You are exactly right. BU is a mid major program that can’t compete with the high major teams/conferences on a consistent basis. This is what makes BU a mid major program. BU is not handicapped anymore or less than any other mid major program when it comes to competing or being one of the better and more consistent mid major programs. There was a time when the MVC and the BU program was a power conference and program. I’ve followed the BU program since 1962-63 and have seen the demise of the MVC as well as the exodus of the better programs. There was a time BU was one of the top 20 programs in the country on a consistent basis. In a very good year, BU is a top 100 program. This has been the new norm. BU is now consistently one of the better mid major programs and has been the case for a few decades now. Now the better mid major programs are being poached by high majors. As a result, the better mid major programs are now poaching lesser mid major, Division II and III programs. Supporters of those programs are just as disappointed as we are when it happens to our program.
